Apple release of Mac OS X Lion as having more than 200 new features

Mac OS X Lion
Mac OS X Lion's well-known All My Files smart folder gives a bird's-eye view of everything on your Mac with files separated by type -- images, PDFs, text-based documents, spreadsheets and so forth. Each type of file displays preview icons of various files that you can scroll through, much as you would using cover flow view in the Finder or iTunes.

This file grouping option is the default for All My Files, but you can use it for any folder you're looking at in icon view (but not in list, column or cover flow views).
Grouping files by type is useful, but the Finder's new Arrange menu in the Finder window toolbar also lets you group files and subfolders by several different criteria, including by the application that created each file (or that is associated with the file if that application isn't installed on your Mac); by the date they were last opened, added, modified or created; by the file sizes; and by the Finder label assigned to them.

Some Special features of  Apple Mac OS X Lion

Like the iPod touch and Wi-Fi-only iPads, Mac OS X Lion can use known Wi-Fi networks to determine the approximate geographical location of your Mac. This information can be requested by websites and other applications, as well as used with iCloud's Find My Mac feature. The new Privacy tab in the Security & Privacy pane in System Preferences lets you choose whether your Mac can determine your location and, if so, which apps are allowed to use your location information.
The Privacy tab also lets you control whether or not your Mac can send diagnostic details (such as from application or system crashes) to Apple Mac OS X Lion for analysis.

The Pros and Cons of the Different Ways to Buy an iPhone 4S

Today is iPhone day. Again. iPhone 4S presale order sales started at midnight. For the first time there are three different providers offering service plans for iPhones: old standby AT&T, Verizon and newcomer Sprint, plus there's an unlocked phone that theoretically could hop from network to network. With so many options, which phone to buy? The actual phone costs the same with each carrier, so it's all about the plan. With so many possible combinations of voice, data and texting, things can get kind of confusing.

Want to Get Into the Guinness Book of World Records? Play Some iPhone Games

Achieving a high score in your favorite mobile game could soon earn you a spot in Guinness World Records.
Thanks to a partnership with Kiip, a startup that provides real-world rewards for in-game achievements, Guinness will begin listing the most talented mobile game players in future editions of its famous world record book. Every Kiip-enabled game will be tracked and has the potential of becoming a world record. Kiip will maintain the leaderboards that determine the world record holders.

"At Kiip, we've built an entirely new ad model around achievement moments," Kiip CEO Brian Wong told Mashable. "As a network, we wanted to find continuous ways to accelerate growth and to broaden the brand of Kiip to be more than just rewards, but to be simply rewarding. We wanted to find the ultimate recognition for the moments that fuel our network. And what could be more recognizing than a world record."
To kick things off, Guiness and Kiip are launching a five-day competition for the popular iPhone game Mega Jump. The person who achieves the highest score between September 28 and October 3 will be placed in the 2012 Guinness World Records 2012 Gamers Edition for "The Highest Score Achieved on Mega Jump."

The partnership is a big win for Kiip, whose network of games continues to expand. While it was nice to win some Pop Chips for previous in-game achievements, having the chance to win a world record will likely take game engagement to a whole different level.
Would having the opportunity to achieve a world record motivate you to play an iPhone or Android game more? Let us know in the comments.

Infinity Blade to leverage iPhone 4S tech

Fans of top iOS game Infinity Blade should set calendar app reminders for December 1, as that's when Infinity Blade 2 arrives on the App Store.
New fighting styles, enemies and bosses are joined by a Clash Mob mode that Epic Games says will be a "massively social" challenge with rare weapons and items dished out as rewards.
The game was announced as part of Apple's October 4 press conferences, at which iOS 5 and the iPhone 4S were announced.
It will use iOS 5's iCloud to transfer game progress between devices, and Epic VP Mark Rein stated that the title would be at its best on the iPhone 4S -- though presence on other iPhone variants was not ruled out.
Infinity Blade brought in more than $11 million for Epic in the eight months since a December 2010 debut, easily recouping the $2m development cost.
Despite a relatively high price on the store ($5.99 outside of sale promotions) up to half of Infinity Blade's profits are thought to come from in-app purchases made by players eager to boost their abilities.
Since its release, others have made attempts to outdo its graphical accomplishments, among them Rage HD, Shadowgun and the recently announced Bladeslinger.
