One Step Forward to Merge Internet and Google TV

Google has released a Programming tool for Android developers to build applications for Google TV. Google says, with the next update to Android Honeycomb, Google TV devices will be compatible to Android and developers can start developing software for Google TV devices using the Google TV preview tool. This new Android preview tool let Android developers to create applications for TV or optimize existing mobile and Tablet android applications for Google TV devices. After developing new applications, users can distribute them via Android market.

In Google Android developers blog, we can read more about this. Right now because of the design and use case, a few fix is required for mobile android app to use for Google TV. They should follow UI element guideline to appear in Google TV Android market. Google also released a User Interface guideline to help developers to understand the difference between User Interface elements on Google TV and the same of Tablets and mobile phones.

Unsupported Android Features in Google TV

Some of the unsupported features in Google TV compared to tablets and mobile devices are:

1. Touch Screen is not available in Google TV

2. Android NDK are not supported in Google TV
